The Eye

Personal Work

Type: Game, Interactive, Media Art
Medium: Arduino, piezo buzzer, various sizes of acrylic pieces, MadMapper, digital painting, paint, acrylic sheets, latex, rubber.
Size: 30.3 x 20.8 x 31.4 " (77 x 53 x 80 cm)
Year: Aug - Nov 2023.

Each of these two artworks is programmed to sound an alarm or turn on an LED whenever the viewer interacts with the work.
Each piece symbolizes the world which we live in. The world exists in a stable state within the laws of nature, but when a person approaches and intervenes, the balance of nature becomes unstable. The eye monitor these external human activities and interventions.

In the first work (red), when a person approaches and touches the work, the machine recognizes the changed brightness and sounds an alarm. The alarm is music of "Archery Flower Blooms", which was also used as an OST for the movie Squid Game. It was programmed by using Arduino, and the alarm is sounded using a piezo buzzer.

The second work (Blue) is programmed to turn on the LED when a person touches the work.

The color and shape of the jewelry were abstractly shaped, recalling climate change such as wildfires caused by human activities, glacial greenery caused by warming, and heavy rain.

By developing a carbon footprint app that can work with it, we have enriched environmental awareness and interaction. The app focuses on tracking and visualizing how much carbon footprint users leave in their daily lives.
