‘Zebra SE-RO: Meta Z00’ is a media art and performance piece that explores human behavior and interaction. It uses the motif of questioning whether contemporary individuals are living in a digital zoo.
I read an article about a zebra named Se-ro that escaped from the zoo. Se-ro should be running on the African savannah, but instead, it is confined in a zoo. In the current era, people find it challenging to escape from the internet. In all aspects of work and leisure, individuals rely heavily on phones and computers 24/7.
As a result, people are becoming increasingly reluctant to engage in face-to-face interactions and social activities outside their personal spaces. This situation makes humans feel as if they are trapped within the internet world, similar to a zebra confined to a zoo. In this evolving world where remote interactions prevail, we need to consider how to adapt and respond effectively.
*The music in the video is my reinterpretation and rearrangement of Beethoven's original composition 'Für Elise.'
