If you have ever endured a summer night in Korea, you probably have vivid memories of wrestling with mosquitoes, desperately trying to catch some sleep. You may cover your head with a blanket, bury your face under the pillow, or escape the comfortable space itself.
Humans choose to give up a very comfortable space in order to avoid mosquitoes. In our lives, we are faced with countless situations in which we have to give up one to get one.
‘Mosquito Paradox’ allows individuals to recognize their inner choices by visualizing the inner behavior of choosing a new discomfort to avoid one discomfort.
AR Interaction using WebXRtools
The eye structure located in the exterior space monitors and records the inner choices of viewers. The viewer’s decision to give up comfort in order to avoid mosquitoes is then printed on a receipt. Viewers can scan the accompanying QR code for an AR experience.
This exhibition consists of three spaces:
A: Space allowing a panoramic view of both B and C.
B: Comfortable, yet discomforting space due to mosquitoes.
C: Space revealing inner chocies. Provides receipts and AR experience.
When viewers scan the QR code on the receipt, they can see augmented reality eye balls that are monitoring the inner choices that are taking place within us every moment.

Especially, I designed indoor spaces, incorporating mosquito media art through projection mapping and programming AR experiences for interaction.
